I thought that it might be a good idea to look back at some of the amazing weddings that we have covered in 2014 and with the weather cold outside, what better place to start than midsummer's day and the wedding of Mellissa and Oliver at the fabulous setting that is Lartington Hall, near Barnard Castle in Teesdale, County Durham. Dating back to the 17th Century, lovingly and sympathetically restored by Shona and John Harper-Wilkes, Lartington Hall is simply stunning, inside and out. Add to that a fantastic couple in Mellissa and Oliver who were so much fun on their special day, then this was sure to be a memorable occasion.
With beautiful, colourful seasonal flowers from Manor Garden.
A joyous and emotional ceremony with more than a few tears shed, and not just by the guests.
The day could have got to a better start for Troy, the best man, who dropped the ring much to everyone's amusement. He was made to pay by Oliver during the speeches!
The wonderful gardens at Lartington Hall were a perfect backdrop for some of our group photographs. Not sure whose dog that was though.
Owner John and his super professional and friendly staff were on hand throughout the day to make sure that everything went perfectly.
Tremendous speeches all round. We learned quite a lot about Oliver's past. To say that he's an interesting chap is something of an understatement!
What better way to end the day than a full scale game of rugby on the beautifully manicured lawns of Lartington Hall. Unfortunately, Oliver's suit didn't make it.
A huge thank you to the wonderful couple that are Mellissa and Oliver for letting us be a part of their special day! The day was an absolute pleasure for us from start to finish. May they have many years of happiness together!
